When he was 4 years old, his mother met and married Sherman Crowley, who moved his new family to Patterson, Missouri, where his home was.

He is preceded in death by parents Lester Walker and Liddie Chatman. Bobby Eugene Chatman SR, was reared in a Christian family and confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church of Searcy, Arkansas.
